Uncharted: Masonic Children’s Hospital | Produced by Sophia Reed | 2023: One of my notable achievements includes partnering with non-profit organizations, and helping them achieve record-breaking fundraising results through impactful videos. Recently, the University of Minnesota Foundation raised an impressive $1.9 million in just 24 hours, thanks in-part to the compelling storytelling and strategic approach of the videos I produced for the Winefest Gala. This video later went on to win a 2023 Midwest Regional Emmy in the Health and Medical category.

I helped implement WCCO’s new social media engagement project by introducing Reporter Riffs - short and casual videos fronted by reporters and anchors about high-interest stories. Intended as a way to traffic more viewers to live broadcasts, these riffs contently has consistent high engagements in our Facebook and Instagram stories and Reels.

For decades people of color have been offered to the harsh perspectives of racism as fact, blurring hate with reality. This film asks how much of our history should we cling to when so much of it is hard to look at.

 

Dream Series: Dream #1 | Experimental Installation | Created by Sophia Reed | 2016: Dreams are products of your brain sending electric signals that register as powerful images to a single audience; the dreamer. This is why listening to people retell their dreams is boring. The listener isn’t experiencing them the same way the storyteller did - visually. “Dream Series” is an attempt to recreate the visual , emotional, and unusual experience of dreaming in the waking world.

 

WALT | Written & directed by Sophia Reed | 2017: Walter Philip’s troubled past has caught up with him. Three hired goons bring him on an involuntary trip to a smokey restaurant. Fearing the worst, Walt quickly realizes the its the underdog who has the upper hand…

 

NOWHERE | Written & directed by Sophia Reed | 2012: After a young girl leaves home, she meets a strange man who helps her on her journey. She quickly becomes aware that this trip is to the afterlife, and that her kind and quiet guide knows more than he’s letting on.

 

A Story About Love | Written & animated by Sophia Reed | 2011: The evolution of a couple’s love told through paper, words, shapes, and shoelaces. This short won Best Animation in the 7th Annual T Tauri Young Filmmakers Competition.
